Llewelyn Moss is a welder and Vietnam War veteran living in Texas. One day, while out hunting, he comes across a group of men who have been killed in a drug deal gone wrong. Llewelyn finds a briefcase full of money and decides to take it for himself. However, his decision soon puts him in the crosshairs of Anton Chigurh, a ruthless hitman who is sent to retrieve the money.

Chigurh is a cold and calculating killer who believes that there is no such thing as good or evil. He is simply a force of nature, and he will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. Llewelyn Moss is no match for Chigurh, and he is soon forced to flee for his life.

As Llewelyn Moss tries to stay one step ahead of Chigurh, he meets a variety of characters, including Carla Jean Moss, his pregnant wife; Ellis, a bounty hunter; and Ed Tom Bell, a sheriff who is trying to make sense of the violence that is plaguing his county.

No Country for Old Men is a gripping and suspenseful novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. McCarthy's writing is spare and poetic, and his characters are unforgettable. The novel is a powerful exploration of the themes of greed, violence, and the futility of hope.

Llewelyn Moss tries to escape from Chigurh, but he is ultimately doomed to fail. The novel's ending is bleak and pessimistic, and it suggests that there is no way to escape the violence and greed that is all around us.
