A Story of Survival and Resilience

Barnabas is a golden retriever who was rescued from a high-kill shelter in 2013. He was in terrible condition, with mange, heartworms, and a broken leg. But despite all that he had been through, Barnabas was a gentle and loving dog.

Mimi Zollars, a volunteer at the shelter, was immediately drawn to Barnabas. She knew that he deserved a second chance, so she adopted him. Zollars took Barnabas to the vet, where he received treatment for his medical conditions. She also began working with him on his socialization skills.

A Therapy Dog

In 2015, Zollars began taking Barnabas to visit patients at a local hospital. Barnabas was an instant hit with the patients. He would wag his tail, lick their hands, and listen to them talk. The patients loved having Barnabas around. They said that he made them feel happy and relaxed.

Barnabas also visits children at a local school. The children love to read to Barnabas and play with him. Barnabas helps the children to learn about empathy and compassion.

Barnabas has also been a therapy dog for people who have experienced trauma. He has helped people to cope with grief, anxiety, and depression. Barnabas's presence can help to calm people down and make them feel safe.

An Inspiration

Barnabas is an inspiration to everyone who meets him. He shows that even after experiencing the worst that life has to offer, it is possible to overcome adversity and find happiness. Barnabas is a reminder that we should all be kind to each other and that we should never give up on our dreams.
